My friend Sarah found herself recently healing after a foot injury and navigating with a scooter. She initially was using a scooter to help walk her pup. Sarah and I were co-workers at Castle Hot Springs and she’s one amazing chef! In discussions about accessibility, she thoughtfully agreeded to pay closer attention to restaurants she visits and share her suggestions…
The Farish House

European style bistro set in a quaint 1800’s historic home with an eclectic boutique wine menu, turn of the century style cocktails, and a cheese and meat selection excellent for pairing in small bites with your favorite wine. The food is made from scratch in house and inspired by the cuisines of Southern France and Southern Italy with some American favorite comfort foods. Enjoy their classic Duck Confit, Chianti Short Ribs, or delicious seafood dishes and rotating vegetarian menu item. The food feels made with love and care with options for shareable items and a lovely dessert menu featuring their timeless Tiramisu and Bitter Chocolate Tart.
The establishment offers parking in the back lot and there is street parking close by as well. The back entrance has an accessibility ramp for wheelchair access as well as single occupancy restrooms large enough for a wheelchair to access both inside and at the back entrance. Plenty of chair seating that can easily be moved aside for a mobility device. There is outdoor patio seating as well that is great for mobility challenges and they offer heat lamps outside in the colder weather as well as live jazz music weekly. Call for a music schedule.

Casual restaurant setting with outdoor seating that has misters and a fireplace. Inside there is also seating, a coffee bar, and a vintage marketplace. The menu begins with a variety of breakfast options with many healthy items and follows with the lunch menu a large variety of sandwiches, salads, and protein bowls. I personally love their Nourish Bowl with Chicken, Avocado, and Cranberry and also their fresh juices, which you can customize or order from some of their own creations. The atmosphere is warm and happy with very good service and care. The restaurant is wheelchair and mobility device accessible, as well as the restrooms.
Ocotillo

Beautiful architecture and manicured desert outdoor settings make this restaurant a beautiful site to approach. A large restaurant with several outdoor options, there is parking and paved walkways with wheelchair and mobility device accessibility as well as tables with chairs that can be removed for comfortable seating. Restrooms are also wheelchair and mobility device friendly.
The menu is New American cuisine but with a lot of local and southwest inspired menu items like the Wood Fired Ribs with Mole BBQ sauce or the Roasted Bone Marrow with Pumpkin Seed Crunch and Mezcal Pasilla Salsa. This is also a great place for a nice cocktail or glass of wine on the patio, kid friendly and offering a stellar brunch menu on the weekends.
Oregano’s Pizza Bistro (Most locations)
Open every day from 11am-9pm
4602 E Cactus Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032
Chicago style casual bistro with a large variety of thin crust and stuffed crust pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and pastas. Famous for their pizza cookie with ice cream that you may want to order two of because you won’t want to share! I personally love their stuffed pizzas, though they take a long time to cook. I can never eat more than a couple pieces but they reheat beautifully to take home. I also love their salads and always order the half portion because they are quite filling and it leaves me room for dessert! These restaurants are sometimes pretty busy but there is wheelchair and mobile device access, parking, and wheelchair friendly restroom access. The vibe is very festive with oldies music and carefully chosen antiques throughout the design of each restaurant and plenty of space to wait when the restaurant is busy.
