Have you heard about DineAbiliti.com yet? Earlier this year, we read about two brothers in Scottsdale, AZ who created this website resource to help diners research the accessibility of different restaurants based on reviews made by past customers. As we have seen, one person’s accessibility needs don’t always mean that a space is accessible for another. So they have wisely categorized things into Blind Friendly, Deaf Friendly, Wheelchair Friendly, and Dog Friendly.
On their free website, you can discover if there is a ramp to get inside the restaurant, the bathrooms are scooter accessible, and whether you can park your rollator near your table… all based on reviews left by previous diners who have taken the time to share their experience.
Both brothers have a Brophy College Prep connection, Rohit an alumni and Sanjit presently attending school there. We recently discovered that our son attended Brophy while Rohit was there. A common theme Brophy often promotes to the students is being “a man for others”, and we were so impressed when we learned that Rohit and Sanjit designed this resource for the disability community – we had to meet them!
Recently Rohit stopped by our showroom, and we are really excited to hear what they are doing and how they plan to continue to grow DineAbiliti. He will be attending Wharton next month at the University of Pennsylvania to start his MBA.
If you haven’t yet, please visit their website to see what accessible restaurants are close to you. Also consider dropping a review of your favorite places to eat on Yelp to add to the information shared. Bon Appetite!
